Review: Right, I've read through the other reviews on here - especially the less-than 5* ones and should say right off that this review is by someone who uses the basics and not the advanced features ... i.e., editing, dubbing, etc. Also, I use the hard drive and not individual dvd's. Having said all that - this is an amazing piece of kit. If like me you're coming off a VCR and onto a DVD recorder you will find this does everything but make the tea! and I'm sure if you look hard enough in the manual, you can even find a button that does even thatl! lol I got the machine on Friday, by Saturday (and several hours of 'playing' later) I had it sussed. So often you hear how un-user-friendly and complicated these things are - especially the DVD recorders with a hard drive. However, I honesty believe that if you take the time to 'read' the manual (ugh, I know) and 'play' (it won't bite, blow up, crash or break down), then it will only be a matter of hours before you are truly amazed by its capabilities. The picture quality is superb, the remote control (unlike so many others) has fairly prominent buttons (important for the ladies with long nails!) and is of reasonable quality and the features and functions are advanced and many without being incomprehensible. The only shame is that Sony in its grand wisdom has decided to stop making the HX900 and this was after it had been on the market for only six months! Their reason is because they're bring out a 'newer' model - shame that, 'cause this one really is exceptional. If you can still find one, get it! |
