Review: The Magic Spring: My Year Learning to Be English - As a lover of English history, tradition and ceremony I was expecting an irreverent yet interesting travelogue, but found a bit of a lazy meander. The writer researched this over a few years, which should give it substance but only seemed to make it skip about a bit. The immediacy of a travel tale was lost and hence it became a bit dull. There is a bit of interesting stuff in there but I don't think that this format helped the writer get it across or indeed help the material to shine. A shame.
