Review: I'm sure you all know the story by now...Dorothy leaves the safety of Aunt Em in a magical journey to Oz, where she befriends a Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion in her quest to get back home to Kansas. A simple task if ever there was, apart from the cackling Wicked Witch of the West who is determined to reclaim the ruby slippers from Dorothy, who was given them straight off the Wicked Witch of the East's feet by the beautiful Witch of the North. Which witch?! A classic musical filled with bright colours, fantasy characters brought straight from childhood imaginations and memorable songs (Follow the yellow brick road...follow follow follow follow...) and lines (Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh my!). Put aside your adult-hat and maturity and enjoy this film for what it is. A wonderful film which has retained its magical crown for almost 80 years. I prefer this version to any other, the acting is great and the transition from black and white to colour, coinciding with Dorothy's arrival in Oz, was genius at the time. Buy it, watch it, enjoy it and treasure it! |
