Review: I spent a good deal of time reading online reviews of printers, and this Canon iP6700D recieved consistantly good reviews. As I live in France, where there are few if any pc stores, it had to be an online purchase, and to my surprise amazon.fr accepted all my amazon.co.uk account details and it arrived in two days. The printer is a really solid bit of kit, although the paper trays feel a little flimsy and it still amazes me that such high precision examples of electro-mechanical devices like this printer are so inexpensive! Getting the software installed was a nightmare(xp operating system),time and time again the installation failed, and I followed all the troubleshooting instructions in the manual without success.Eventually after hot swapping the usb lead a few times, and changing sockets, it finally loaded and went'online'.I still get a 'new hardware found'message each time on start up,but just cancel it. So,time for the first photo, pressed print and away it went.I was seriously impressed by its speed and quietness,(and there is a silent mode I've not even tried yet) there was just no comparison to my old epson stylus and the results were superb even though not using canon paper(nobody stocks it here). The photo editing software is as good as any I've used, and the print sizes/layout options are great. It seems there are more options using direct printing from a picture card than from a pc,like printing test shades, but I have not tried that yet. I'm hoping some genuine canon paper will bring even better results, but my advice would be BUY IT! |
