Review: This IXUS 65 is the first Canon camera I have bought, I chose Canon because more and more friends and family did so, and without exception did not regret their purchases. My previous digital camera is a Kodak LS443, not a bad spec for the buck at the time, but it's CCD has degraded and so the time was right to look for something new.
My sister-in-law as and Ixus I in piano black, my first impresion was that the LCD screen works so much better than my Kodak, brighter and sharper, yet slightly smaller!.
My brother-in-law has an Ixus 55 and the large LCD on a small camera was a revelation. Combining this with the solid weightly feel and finish made me salivate at the thought of having one for myself (or should I say ourselves as my wife was well up for this newee).
So moving on, I start doing the www. rounds, and arrived back at good old Amazon realising for the price of an ixus 55 anywhere else I could get an Ixus 65 at Amazon, so I did.
We are very happy with our purchase, albeit with the usual reservations;
1)no view finder, come on Canon you can squeeze one in some where;
2)the software bridge, I have now worked with Canon, Kodak and have seen Fuji. The manufactures waste their money and time with these features. Not one sytem beats pulling out the SD card and slapping in a reader. This method is by far the least fuss way to get your photos on your hard drive.
3)No fill in flash setting I can find!!
one last thing is that I can not pull the images in raw file format.
Don't get me wrong, these are minor areas of a wonderful camera. The LCD screen is huge. The movie quality is great. Picture review is very nice, Battery life is fine. Picture quality is spot on. Camera size is great. Amazon price and delivery fantastic. Ease of use very good.
Do I regret buying this item, of course I don't, I am very happy. A Big step up indeed
