Review: I've had quite a few compact digital cameras over the last few years and have had some pretty good results from them. The one gripe I've had though is the dreaded camera shake which blurs the images. My first had a viewfinder which helps as you are steadying the camera to your face. However any of the ones that are held at arms length suffer from "the blurs" to some extent unless there is really good light. To try and overcome this I was determined to buy a camera that had some mechanism to correct the problem. I'm happy to say that the Canon Ixus 800 does this amazingly well. It has image stabilisation (IS) which corrects for movement and takes all the fuzziness out of those quickly snapped shots - and they are often the best ones. It's also brilliant at close-up (macro) shots; none better. The colours are true and the battery life between charges is excellent. It can even capture fast moving subjects like a garden full of puppies without a wobble! You still need a flash for low-light shots of moving subjects but if there is little movement it can produce good ones without. It'll be a long time before I change this Canon IXUS 800 IS camera.
