Review: After trying the Sony MV960 for a couple of weeks already, I think this is a good digital camcorder and it is good value for money. I agree that it's not performing very well in low light conditions (when you use the "easy" settings) but the features present in this camcorder are great and if you look for similar in other models you will have to pay a few hundred £s more. I was able to convert my old VHSs to a digital format (one of the main reasons why I bought this camcorder), using the "A/V in" feature, and then downloaded to my PC and burn a few DVDs. Even I've captured TV on digital format. OK, a DVD recorder can do that much better but this camcorder can also do that. I've processed video in my computer (add subtitles, effects, etc) and I've uploaded to the camera again (DV in). I wish Canon kept the "mic in" feature from the MV890 on this camera. I don't know why they've removed this in the MV960. That could make this camcorder even better and videos could have a more "professional" look. The "recording programs" settings (P) are better for focus, white balance, different conditions, etc... and definitely are the settings that I will used all the time. Even with a few downsides, this camera under £250, is really good value for money. Recommendable. |
