Review: I have bought this Daewoo DPC7400P 7" portable DVD player for the car for the children to watch on long journeys. They were becoming increasingly intolerant of long journeys and driving us demented. The DVD player was a huge success from this point of view, allowing us to listen to our own music. In principle I would highly recommend a DVD player for the car! I have no interest in the various other functions, simply wanted something that plays DVD's. The machine is pretty sturdy and the picture quality is good and sound excellent. We use it with a headphone splitter which allows the use of 2 pairs of headphones. The spliiter is made by Belkin and only £2. The sound quality is still perfectly adequate. There are a number of irritating aspects to the player: 1. The supplied headphones are rubbish and I have no idea how you get the foam bits onto them. They were of no use for youngish children. 2. The instructions are in pigeon English. 3. The straps to attach the case/player to the back of a car seat are poorly made. I could not get the case to sit adequately on the back of a car seat, so wedged it with a couple of the straps between the front seats, which worked OK. 4. The 12 power lead broke after a few uses- probably because I bent it with the case jammed between the car seats. With the player in its case the leads do not fit comfortably into the sockets. Little holes in the case would have solved this. Poor design. 5. The remote does not work with the player in its case. 6. Why so many leads- irriating. The Daewoo DPC7400P 7" portable DVD player is cheap and functional but will not win any design awards! The kids love it. |
