Review: I put a lot of effort into researching a replacement for my aging Epson Photo 810 but was frustrated by tests of various models which always seemed to have a critical weak point. Also so many printers now are saddled with extra-cost features I don't need...LCD screens, card readers etc. The R265 seemed to fit the bill and at a reasonable cost, especially the ink cartridges, although I wondered how quickly they would empty.
I needn't have feared. Printing photos only (mainly landscapes and people) my old 810 always did about 1.2 square metres on a colour cartridge plus one third of a black and white one. So far, on the first set of tanks (and Epson warn that the first set will be used up faster) I have done 1.208 square metres. I'll need to replace both the light cyan and light magenta tanks very soon but there's still 25% Yellow, 40% magenta, 40% cyan and 50% black left. Cost to date 0.29 pence per square cm or 44 pence for a 150x100mm print (plus paper of course) Quality is absolutely OK and the machine is whisper quiet compared to the 810. Purchase price very acceptable. Well done Epson. |
