Review: I bought this Garmin Streetpilot i3 sat nav for my wife for christmas, and I must say it is fantastic.
Simplicity- The device is so simple to use, I think even my spaniel could master it. The wheel enables you to enter postcodes and address as well as points of interest by selecting letters from a list on the right hand side of the screen. At first I was a little apprehensive about this, but once we had used it a couple of times, realised how easy and relatively quick it is to do- A very acceptable and justiable comprimise, allowing for the petite nature of the unit.
Portability- The device is very easy to remove from the car and carry with you when you leave the vehicle- it is small enough to fit into any hand bag. The batteries last a long time on the unit, so it is ideal for taking with you when you go for a walk ( which we have done ).
Accuracy- Well what can I say? Whilst walking with the device, it even knew within a split second when we had stopped- constantly recalculating our arrival time. The unit had not even been clipped onto the windscreen before it had found the relevant satellites and told us exactly where we were, what we were near and suggestions of where we would like to go.
Size- This unit is really really small! It is smaller than a cricket ball! About the size of a Granny Smith. Do not let this put you off! The screen is easy to read and very easy to navigate. The three buttons and fly wheel are easily sufficient to navigate the various menus of the device- and you will not need a degree in computer science in order to do this. The size of the unit makes it portable and light enabling ease of use and minimum disruption to your viewing whilst driving.
Overall- This unit is fabulous. It will not calculate the properties of nuclear fission, nor will it navigate to the moon or make you a cup of tea. If you are looking for an entry level sat nav however, then look no further- I really do not have a bad word to say about the Garmin i3 car sat nav. It will tell you where you are, get you where you want to go and it will do this with a little bit of style- 'little ' being the operative word! Who says size matters? |
