Review: I have been using the Garmin StreetPilot III Deluxe car sat nav for nearly a year now, and find it amazingly helpful. I travel a great deal, often to places I don't know, and the Street Pilot has guided me to my destination successfully nearly every time. The controls are simple to use and the directions it provides are clear and helpful. My unit was purchased in the US, but I use it in the US and Europe as I purchased the European map set as well. The routing software on the US maps is better as it provides automatic routing on the road wheras the European maps require you to do the route on your computer and then download it to the unit (before you travel). This process is very easy, but does mean that you need to plan ahead. If you forget or need to route to somewhere new, then you can do this on the unit but it can't provide detailed routing. If you are going to use the unit in multiple vehicles then you should also get the bean bag mount that keeps the unit secure on any dashboard. My only (minor) gripe is the speed with which the unit eats batteries - it's important to ensure that it's connected to the car's cigarette lighter. |
