Review: The iRiver H10 MP3 player is made from quality components and is well put together: Mine has already shrugged off several bumps and knocks with no ill effects. The sound quality is superb - noticably better than the iPod and Zen Micro - with deep bass and crisp high frequency response. The equalizer functions allow it to be tailored to most personal preferences. The firmware is not perfect (slow to respond to commands and prone to the odd hang or glitch when navigating between tracks or when switching on), but upgrades are improving it (and its easy to reboot - just pop the battery out and back in - a 1 second job). The PC software is also sound, and is a functional equivalent of iTunes: not great (and very slow) but perfectly adequate. The colour screen is sharp and bright, the radio is excellent and the removable battery is a real plus (but don't expect 12 hours out of it: 8 is a more realistic estimate). The ability to view jpegs is cool, but the small screen limits its value. Viewing stored text files is less glamorous but much more useful. I am well happy with my H10, and would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a small capacity hard drive mp3 player. |
