Review: This JVC GR-DVP9 is my first camcorder and the learning curve has been very straight forward. I was able to hook the JVC up to iMovie and my iMac really easily and the results I have been getting are really exciting. I recently went on a Caterham 7 car rally and captured some nice in-car footage and have subsequently burned a DVD of the edited footage. All very easy. The cam itself feels nice and chunky and you get the impression that the thing is built to be used and not kept hidden in a protective camera bag. The viewfinder and screen are both bright. I tend to use the mini screen as it makes framing shots easier. The built-in mic does the sound work adequately. While we are on the subject, here lies the reason I knocked off a mark and rated this cam four stars out of five; you cannot rig up an external mic. Slightly annoying for what I need to do. Battery longevity is OK but I have bought a spare. To sum up, this a great very compact digital camcorder and would have no doubts about recommending this over and above its rival. Buy. |
