Review: I received my Evoke2-xt on Saturday and set it up in the company of my wife and her family. All of us were amazed at the sound quality. It is closer to that of a properly configured budget separates system than a portable radio. The clarity and overall quality of sound is a real shock for this first time DAB user. I toyed with the idea of the portable Pure DAB but I didn't like the reports of battery life or performance. The XT mates very well with the Sennheiser PX100 headphones (a tip I picked up from WhatHifi 2005 awards). I live in an area where the BBC DAB site says 'may receive signal'. Downstairs I get absolutely nothing but upstairs i have all the channels i want and many more besides. This is probably due more to the construction of my house rather than signal problems in the area (suspended concrete floors). Build quality is excellent and the unit is very tactile. I looks good both close up and from a distance. The sound quality is good with the volume cranked up. All in all this radio is the business. |
