Review: Chosen this Samsung LE23R71BX TV for the specs it has relative to the price its available at (much cheaper if purchased online! rather than shop window). Originally looking to purchase a 20" (price reasons), but found that for a little more you get a lot more. The style is unique and the 8ms pixel0 response time coupled with 2000:1 contrast ratio; not to mention the vast array of sockets for various components made it a must have, over all the 20" screens.
Now heres what visual and audio specs are like! If you've done your reading you'll notice that visual ratings are high, some sites giving it a 8/10 or 9/10. I would probably say 7.8 at best! Not quite making the grade for 8 as it can still be a tiny bit blurry and the colour can seem too bright or not natural enough on certain channels(Sky digital using 21 pin scart plug). Although haven't played around with the customs settings yet. It can be very good on others though, not sure why; watching the football is very sharp compared to some other LCDs out there, and the response rate does the job! Has an in game mode but haven't actually realised what this does to the picture when switched on, whilst playing games. Sound ratings are exactly what has been said, unless you've been reading the samsung website. 6/10 or 7/10, it can be a bit quiet and the sound doesn't really have that much bass to it. But for a small-ish tv you wouldn't expect to have everything a top-notch tv has. Nevertheless its sufficient as I'm using it as a second TV and only watch odd things and play on the playstation 2 with it.
For the price its at I would recommend it (online, some companies do a order online and pickup in-store), the only let down is the sound but was expecting it anyway so unless you're not that bothered or can plug in extra speakers as it has the sockets at the back for this (nice touch having so many sockets for extra peripherals!) its a good deal.
Wall mountable and PC compatibe as well. Purchased the ivory/white one and it goes great with the antique oak cabinets/floorboards. Just need to get an xbox360 now !! |
