Review: Whilst it is true that this 26" Samsung HD ready T.V. has recieved many favourable reviews, I as a customer cannot see why!

The analogue picture quality is fairly poor. The digital picture quality isn't that astonishing either, just okay! Sky HD may look great when it arrives, but I bought this T.V. for the built in Freeview!!

The sound quality is rubbish. If you have a decent surround sound setup then you'll be fine, but if like me you can rarely use yours because of the neighbours then you'll find yourself turning the volume up loud to hear quiet conversations (which are prefectly audible on any other T.V.) then turning it down to avoid certain noises that are so load they'll cause damage to your ears! This seems to happen to random pieces of the audio.

Then there's gaming, which is mainly what I bought it for. THE T.V.'S MANUAL ACTUALLY RECOMENDS YOU DON'T USE GAMES CONSOLES WITH THE IT!!!!!! This is due to the occurence of burn-ins. Xbox 360 games do look outstanding (though the sharpened images on Project Gotham 3 made it look rough and the difference to standard T.V. isn't £650 worth!), but any other consoles look terrible!! Half Life 2 on Xbox, known for its excellent visuals, looks like it's running on a PS One!!, with bleary textures and strange graphical warping whilst moving. This was running on the original Xbox, and never occured on my old T.V. The quality on graphically inferior games is shocking, they're almost unplayable!

Lastly, there is the problem with the picture overall. I have spent so much time adjusting the colour/contrast/brightness that I've barely had time to watch anything. certain colours, such as red, are far too vibrant, but turn the colour down and you'll struggle to distinguish blue from black. I've had to hike the brightness and contrast (which is also recommended against in the manual due to this increasing the chance of burn-ins.) up to be able to play games, then alter it to watch T.V.!

On the plus side, DVD picture quality was top notch and a real pleasure.

I'm going to go back to my 15 year old, bog-standard T.V. because this is not what I expect for this kind of money.
