Review Summary: Great looking LCD with HD ready facility.
Overall Score: 5/5 Overall score - 5Overall score - 5
Good Points: Turned off this TV looks sexy! Gloss black finish with a metalic blue band beneath the screen.
HDMi ready for future proofing.
Game mode to enhance console game imaging.
Full connectivity for Cable / DVD / Audio / PC / Digital camera etc
Bad Points: Sound from the onboard speakers is not that deep.
Review: I took a long time before I plumbed for this Samsung 26" LE26R73BD LCD television. Most of the debate centred around the the "should I wait or should I buy now" argument, based on the fact that my friends were telling me that LCD TV (non HD) would drop in price, and that none HDMi sets would be cheaper due to the new demand in a year or so etc.
In the end I was out shopping and on seeing this set, the descion was made. Its a tremendous TV, 26" screen, not massive in LCD terms is ample for our sitting room which is roughly 17' by 15'.
Its worth shopping around the internet for this TV as I reckon I saved £150 off the price that I saw in the high street.
Setting it up is a doddle (I won't go into too much technical stuff here as its all well documented on the Samsung web site), suffice to say, its really just a case of plugging and playing.
The game mode is really great, the graphics on my x-box are enhanced and running through a few games you find yourself distracted due to the amount of detail on screen in comparison to the old CRT TV.
The built in speakers are not that great, bass responce is not really anything to write home about, however, wired to an amplifier via the audio out sockets soon resolves this.
This TV can also be hooked up to a PC / Mac cia the D-Sub cable to the rear, this is great for viewing photos or running visulisers in iTunes.
In summary, it was a close call between LG and Samsung but after debating and based on seeing one in the flesh the Samsung won me over.....
