Review Summary: Superb idea - some with severe issues though

Review: I had 2 Samsung 32" HD ready TVs (in turn). Superb idea and a really wanted a CRT. The market sector really fallow here now everyone has shoved LCD at : us flat vs. quality with some notable (more expensive) exceptions.

The first one had (fairly) minor geometry issues and real issues with upscaling DVD/SKY/Video from SCART or S-Video if it wasn't widescreen/modern material, though broadcast quality was good. Not being able to live without usable DVD or SKY etc I got a replacement. Bad move - real geometry issues and it was far worse for artefacts on screen. Eventually gave in - got refund and bought a 28" standard 100Hz CRT (pleased with this).

Some have reported problems with a buzz on the speakers - I had a minor noise here but it was not audible with any reasonable volume setting.

Samsung - there is a market here - but please get it right. The issues on this set were too severe (see http://www.avforums.com). You only hear complaints (I know) - and some people were lucky - but it seems to be "pot luck". If you get a good one - fine - if not try elsewhere.
Note: Mpodel reviewed to is the 419 (digital/black surround) - 409 is the same in every way but only has an analogue tuner and a silver surround.
