Review: After weeks (or even months) of online research, searching for the best possible HDTV which offers great value for money, I have concluded my search to this 42" Sharp LC42XD1E FULL HD wonder. 1080p (Progressive, better than 1080i - Interlaced) is simply the best possible picture you're going to get when viewing High Definition content, so don't be fooled by other brands not offering the 1920x1080 resolution. A very quick response time means no blurring to fast moving objects. The "Tru d" function (hidden underneath the remote flap) is absolutely amazing, offering even sharper images on non HD Satellite TV. The PCO function tones down the contrast, making it softer on the eyes. Just play around with all the settings and experiment, you'll see... Currently own a 20" Aquos LCD, bought 29 months ago and never would've thought to give Aquos HDTV a try with all the other competition out there. This quality absolutely gives Sony a run for it's money! The piano black looks are stunning, the sound is quite loud on a soft setting, offering Nicam Stereo. Can't wait to hook it up to HD Satellite in three weeks! Just a quick hint: If you're not already willing to invest in a HD DVD player, buy an ordinary DVD player from Sharp (DVSV97H) with a HDMI output. This player is stupendously cheap and offers full 1080 resolution (but not HD) with an optical output to link direct to your amplifier. If viewed with a high quality HDMI cable, be in for a surprise when viewing your normal format DVD collection... (new movie content is clearer than old DVDs). |
