Review: The only diffence between the Sony TVR238 and the more expensive TVR240, that I can see is DV in. That is you can down load your video to computer using a 'ILink' or 'Firewire'connection, it can then be edited, but you cant upload it back into the camcorder. Personally I dont want to upload it back to the camcorder, I want to put my videos onto CDR's, so the TRV238 suited my needs exactly. I was dissapointed that no Tape or 'ILink' cable are supplied. So you cant use the camcorder until you've been to the shops to buy some Tapes. Sony do however supply a USB cable and 'Pixela' software. The cam can be used as a Webcam using the USB cable, you can also transfer your videos to computer, using the 'Pixela' software, which records the video in an MPEG format. I found the results disapointing and inadequate for 'Full Screen Playback'. However using a thirdparty 'Firewire' cable and windows XP proved to be a doddle, the computer recognised the Sony straight away and asks if I'd like to use Movie maker to record the video, answer yes and you'll be making home movie CDR's in no time. An excellent product and once again excellent servise from Amazon. |
