Review: Having read various car sat nav reviews and searched many websites I thought the Tom Tom Go 510 car sat nav would be the ideal unit for me. I bought it because it seemed to offer a sat nav unit, camera detector and speed limit advisor all in one.
The speed limit advisor only seems to works on major roads,(and i know a motorway is 70 mph)and some tributaries, A roads.
The sat nav is not totally intelligent, it told me to turn right at a no right turn junction for instance.
I have to admit I have NOT subscribed to the camera database updates, however the unit failed to have knowledge of a camera I know as been in position for at least 3 years, it also tends to advise one speed limit for the road and then show a camera approaching with a different limit.
The speed camera locator is not directional either.
Subscribing for updates might address these issues but I am not confident in it enough to spend more money.
To summarise, the TomTom Go 510 sat nav is reasonably competent but don't follow it blindly and don't rely on the speed camera detector to warn of accident blackspots. |
