Review: We got this Toshiba WLT56B widescreen tv for use in our dining kitchen. We wanted something not too small, but with Freeview. It is a well designed set, with the speaker below the screen, making it appear more compact. Well constructed, with a useful swivel on the stand, it can be switched from pointing at the cooking position to point it at the dining area. The picture is really good and contrasty with good colour saturation. Colours wash out slightly when viewed a way off centre, but not so much as to be a major problem. There is some motion blur, but no more than many other sets I have looked at recently. Freeview really is excellent on this set. The software is really well thought out. Not only does the info window tell you the programme you are watching and the next one, it also lets you know how long the current programme has left to run. With the info page open (takes up half the screen) you are constantly informed which programmes are starting on other channels! You can also scroll through what is currently on other stations without switching channels. I think the Picture in Picture feature will rarely be used by us, it's a bit fiddly. The remote control is clearly laid out and easy to use. The sound quality is reasonable for a smallish set, with enough wattage to make it possible to hear clearly over the sound of the noisy extractor fan above the cooker. One small gripe, the only way to turn off the set completely (not left on standby) is to switch it off at the plug.
I can heartily recommend this Toshiba WLT56B widescreen tv as a well thought out and well executed set. |
